"Everything Turns to Gold" is a song by Mars Argo that was featured in acoustic form on the Internet Sessions EP and Mars Argo CD compilation album.[1][2] It was likely intended for use on their canceled second studio album.
Background[]
An acoustic performance of the song was uploaded to the Grocerybag YouTube channel on February 9th, 2012,[3] the audio of which was later included on the 2012 re-release of Internet Sessions.
The track was teased multiple times on Mars Argo's official Twitter and Facebook accounts,[4] most likely in preparation for its studio release on the band's then-upcoming second album. Despite this, the studio version was never released and has yet to surface online.
Lyrics[]
She opened up her body
When the man was waiting
The medicine was failing
There was not a way she could say no
The scenery was shady
Was she thinking maybe
No one had a way to cut her down
And now she's in the corner crying
But I can see her sad song shining
And everything around her turns to gold
She opened up her body
The stranger said
"I'm sorry, I know that you've been dreaming
But I have to take away your love now."
I imagine he was angry
Maybe he was crazy
Maybe I'm amazed by what he did
And now she's in the corner crying
But I can see her sad song shining
And everything around her turns to gold
She opened up her body
And woke up with a feeling
That something might be missing
She was coming back so fast now
The medicine was fading
It couldn't keep her guessing
I can understand why she fell down
And now she's in the corner crying
But I can see her sad song shining
And everything around her turns to gold
