"Electric Car" is a song by the band Mars Argo, originally produced as an instrumental demo for the band's debut album, Technology Is a Dead Bird, and later reworked with lyrics added for their scrapped second album.

Background

The song, while unused from the album, was prominent in the era and was featured many times. The piano melody is sampled in the album intro "The Singularity is Near", and the instrumental is featured as background music for the Computer Show episodes "Art School" and "LoveEveryOne". Lyrics were not given to the song until 2010, where it was co-written by famous producer Johnny K.[1] Some of the lyrics were first teased through a monologue in the Mars Argo video "Reality is a Dream". It's possible that the song was once intended for the Spider in My Bathtub EP.

For a long time, fans were only able to find an acoustic demo of the song recorded at the Blue Room in Groovemaster Studios for the Internet Sessions live EP.[2] On April 2, 2017, the Johnny K produced version of the song was leaked online. The original demo produced by Titanic remains missing and only exists as a snippet used in the 2011 Computer Show episode, "I Shaved My Pussy".

Lyrics

I'm your emergency
Break down the front door for me
Think about my perfect life
With the windows down
I am driving to a red suburban house
Round ocean floating on a memory
Of a time when life was green

Reality is just a dream
I want to build your sunshine
And operate your breathing
(Electric, electric)
The frequency in common
You feel the pulse of my car
(Electric, electric)

I will come and rescue you
In perfect silence we're talking
Imagine I am the pilot
Blue skies will always remind me
Of a letter that she wrote
I fold into a paper plane
(Unfold the love that is flying)

Reality is just a dream
I want to build your sunshine
And operate your breathing
(Electric, electric)
The frequency in common
You feel the pulse of my car
(Electric, electric)
My battery is a child
My love is never ending
(Electric, electric)
I am communication
I found my destination
(Electric)

I want to build your sunshine
And operate your breathing
(Electric, electric)
The frequency in common
You feel the pulse of my car
(Electric, electric)
My battery is a child
My love is never ending
(Electric, electric)
I am communication
I found my destination
(Electric)
