"Electric Car" is a song by Mars Argo, originally produced as an instrumental demo for their debut album, Technology Is a Dead Bird, and later reworked with added lyrics for the Linden Place EP.

Background[]

The song was originally meant for inclusion on Technology Is a Dead Bird and initially confirmed as an album track. Despite not making the final cut, it was prominent in the album's era and was featured many times in the duo's Grocerybag videos. The track is sampled in the album's opening track "The Singularity Is Near", and its instrumental is featured as background music for Computer Show episodes such as "Art School" and "Loveeveryone".[1][2]

Lyrics were not given to the song until 2010 when it was co-written with Johnny K.[3] Some of these lyrics were referenced through a monologue in the video "Reality Is a Dream".[4] An acoustic live performance of it was released to YouTube on June 5th, 2010,[5] the audio of which was later included as a track on the Internet Sessions EP on August 18th, 2010.[6]

On April 2nd, 2017, a studio demo version of the song was leaked online,[7] which was produced by Sinclair and likely intended for use on Linden Place. The finalized album version remains unleaked, but a snippet was previewed in the 2011 Computer Show episode, "I Shaved My Pussy".[8]

Lyrics[]

I'm your emergency
Break down the front door for me
Think about my perfect life
With the windows down
I am driving to a red suburban house
Round ocean floating on a memory
Of a time when life was green

Reality is just a dream
I want to build your sunshine
And operate your breathing
(Electric, electric)
The frequency in common
You feel the pulse of my car
(Electric, electric)

I will come and rescue you
In perfect silence we're talking
Imagine I am the pilot
Blue skies will always remind me
Of a letter that she wrote
I fold into a paper plane
(Unfold the love that is flying)

Reality is just a dream
I want to build your sunshine
And operate your breathing
(Electric, electric)
The frequency in common
You feel the pulse of my car
(Electric, electric)
My battery is a child
My love is never ending
(Electric, electric)
I am communication
I found my destination
(Electric)

I want to build your sunshine
And operate your breathing
(Electric, electric)
The frequency in common
You feel the pulse of my car
(Electric, electric)
My battery is a child
My love is never ending
(Electric, electric)
I am communication
I found my destination
(Electric)
