"Don't Call Me", also known as "You Call Me",[1] is a song by Mars Argo. It was only ever released as a live performance and was likely intended for use on their canceled second studio album.
Background[]
The song saw its live debut at Silverlake Lounge on April 24th, 2013,[1][2] and was subsequently performed at multiple venues throughout the year such as Bardot and Pehrspace.[3][4]
A live version, recorded at Bedrock Studios, was released to the Grocerybag YouTube channel on June 18th, 2013.[5] Soon after being uploaded, it received attention online due to its sampling of the Marimba ringtone.[6][7][8] As a result, the performance video became one of the most-viewed uploads on Grocerybag, amassing over 100 thousand views in only a week before being taken down the following year.[9]
In an interview with Harmontown on June 24th, 2013, Mars Argo and Titanic Sinclair spoke about some of the negative backlash the song received following its release to YouTube.[10]
Lyrics[]
My head is spinning, falling down
Collect myself when I hit the ground
I break my back, I grind my teeth and I stay up late
But I still can't sleep
You call me for everything
Don't call me for anything
You call me for everything
Don't call me
Forget who I am every day
That's how I know that I'm okay
I know I'm on my way
Forget who I am every day
That's how I know I haven't changed
I know I'm on my way
You call me for everything
Don't call me for anything
You call me for everything
Don't call me
Just call me
Forget who I am every day
That's how I know that I'm okay
I know I'm on my way
Forget who I am every day
That's how I know I haven't changed
I know I'll be okay
